Transwaste has today announced the launch of the Jameson Road Community Benefit Fund, a significant new funding programme designed to deliver lasting financial and social benefits to communities near the Jameson Road landfill site in Fleetwood.
The fund will make approximately £200,000 available every year of site operation (exact amount will be dependent on tipping tonnage), providing grants of £10,000 to £50,000 to support capital improvement projects that enhance local public amenities and shared spaces. By investing directly into community infrastructure, the fund aims to strengthen neighbourhoods, improve quality of life and support community-led growth.
Projects must be located within 2.5 miles of the Jameson Road landfill site, with priority given to applications from within 1.5 miles. An eligibility map is available on GrantScape’s website to help groups determine whether their project qualifies.
Funding can be used for a wide range of community assets, including village halls, community centres, public playgrounds, sports fields, cycle paths, nature reserves, village greens and country parks. These improvements not only enhance local facilities but also generate wider economic value by supporting volunteering, recreation, wellbeing and community cohesion.
Eligible applicants include voluntary and community organisations, sports clubs, charities, parish and town councils, local authorities, social enterprises and Community Interest Companies.
Importantly, Transwaste has taken the unusual step of waiving the usual Contributing Third Party (CTP) administration fee, which is typically deducted from grants to cover landfill operator costs. By removing this 11.5% charge, Transwaste is ensuring that 100% of each grant goes directly to community projects, maximising the financial benefit for local groups.
The first application round closes on 28 January 2026, with funding decisions announced by the end of March 2026. A second round will close on 8 July, with decisions expected by mid-September.
The Jameson Road Community Benefit Fund represents a long-term commitment by Transwaste to reinvest locally, empower community groups and help deliver meaningful, visible improvements for residents across the area.
