Update – 17 April
The 11 new gas wells are continuing to perform well, but we are constantly fine tuning their settings to achieve maximum odour extraction.

Update – 11 April
Work is continuing in Cell 6. Our aim is to bring the cell up to approved contour levels as soon as possible so that we can get a permanent cap on it earlier, rather than wait for the completion of the site.

Update – 9 April
Last night the Environment Agency confirmed that the work to drill and install the 11 deep wells conformed with all conditions of the Suspension Notice and as such, a Withdrawal Notice was issued.

Update – 4 April
The 11 new deep gas wells in Cell 6 continue to work well and odour levels from the site are dropping. We anticipate that these will drop further as the wells are balanced.

Update – 1st April
All 11 wells are now connected up and functioning. There has already been a reduction in odour level - even though the wind has been blowing over Fleetwood today. The odour levels should drop further as the wells are balanced to maximise gas capture.

Update – 28 March
As promised, the drilling of 11 deep wells was completed today and these have now been connected to the gas capture infrastructure. These are now extracting gas and will be balanced to achieve maximum effectiveness.

Update – 26 March
For the last few days we have been preparing the site for the drilling of the 11 deep wells to rectify the odour problem from Cell 6. This work included infilling part of Cell 6 with soil to create a level platform to work from.

Update – 20 March
Over the last couple of days we have continued to prepare the site for the deep well drilling next week. This has mainly involved sealing the cell with clay.

Update – 14 March
Work on sealing Cell 6 with a thick layer of clay has progressed well with the good weather this week and it is now almost completed. We hope to have this finished early next week, ready for the deep gas extraction wells the week after.

Update – 11 March
As previously mentioned in our updates, we are planning to undertake work to further improve capping and to prepare the site for additional gas infrastructure.

Update – 7 March
Capping work on Cell 4 is well underway and, weather permitting, we hope to complete this by the end of next week.

Update – 21 February
Following a constructive meeting with Lorraine Beavers MP, we have taken on board her comments and have decided to withdraw our application for a permit variation.

Update – 14 February
The repair to the storm damage on Cell 5 is now complete and we are increasing the gas extraction to maximum. We have also completed the additional capping of the flank of the old Cell 4 and we are currently working to complete the capping of the top of this cell. This work is over and above that requested by the EA.

Update 10 February
The repair to the storm-damaged cap was completed over the weekend, and we are now turning on and balancing the gas capture equipment...

Update – 7 February 2025
We will have two teams working over the weekend to replace the storm damaged cap, and we hope to have this completed on Monday, weather permitting.

Update – 6 February 2025
We are aware that there has been increased odour in Fleetwood as a result of the wind changing direction last night.

Update – 3 February 2025
Unfortunately, we are aware that the odour has become worse today. The smell is emanating from the storm-damaged cap on Cell 5 and has been exacerbated by the wind direction blowing it towards the town.

Update – 29 January 2025
Work started on Monday and Tuesday to prepare the damaged area of the site for the new liner. This has now arrived and we have had two teams on site today working to install it.

Update 23 January 2025
Work is progressing on reprofiling the waste in Cell 6. Unfortunately the waste moved today does smell worse than usual.
