Update – 10 October 2025

Work to replace the control panel on the compressor has been completed and this is now working as planned. As a result of this, the temporary replacement compressor has been taken off-hire.

Whilst experiencing problems with the compressor, increased odour was noted. Between 24–26 September landfill odours were observed at several locations, with intensities up to a maximum of 3 on the standard 0–6 scale. These findings indicate a higher frequency of landfill odour in the monitoring area relative to earlier weeks. Out of a total of 107 observations, landfill odour was detected 42 times with an average intensity of 1.36 out of 6.

Between 2–5 October landfill odours were again identified at several locations with intensities up to 1 on the standard 0–6 scale. In total, 3 out of 102 observations (~3%) recorded landfill odour.

On completion of the work on the compressor, odour returned to its previously low level.

Another six new wells were drilled last week which should further improve gas collection and odour prevention in the new cell. These are now being balanced to maximise extraction and within a few days these will be working to full effect.

Work on engineering Cell 7 has progressed well in the current good weather conditions which will hopefully last into next week.
