Update – 17 July 2025

Damage to a landfill gas condensate knock-out pot was identified yesterday evening and may have increased odour from the affected area. Following the relevant procedures, CLP (our gas management company) worked around the clock to isolate the cell 6 area from the wider extraction system, conducted the necessary investigations into the adjacent infrastructure to check for air ingress and then undertook the required repairs to reseal the damaged section.

A temporary repair was made by removing the damaged knockout pot and replacing it with a section of straight pipe that was sourced on site. This allowed gas extraction to resume from the cell 6A area, although the small area of cell 6B that we have been working in could not be reconnected.

A replacement knockout pot has been sourced and is due to arrive on site and be fitted this afternoon to allow us to reconnect cell 6B. This installation work will require a further isolation of this area from the gas extraction network for a few hours and, as such, may have the potential for further odour from this area.

We will endeavour to ensure that every measure is taken to minimise the potential for odour to adversely affect local receptors and will keep you informed of any further updates or developments with this issue. This information will also be communicated via social media and website channels today with any relevant further updates or information to follow, as necessary.
