Update – 25 April 2025

The 11 new wells are performing well. Our gas experts Melton CLP are now balancing (fine tuning) them to maximise performance. Gas extraction is now sufficient to power two generators producing 2MW, which would power almost 5,000 homes. As a result of the new wells, we have seen a significant reduction in odour from site.

We have also appointed an independent odour monitoring company to undertake daily testing around the site perimeter and key receptor locations, measuring intensity, character and likely source. The reports will be GPS and time stamped so that we can correlate them against complaint logs. We will also publish the data once it is available.

Progressive restoration will start this spring/summer, with tree planting taking place in autumn/winter. The tree planting is a £411,000 programme which will involve the planting of 32,000 trees on the site.
